Book Description: Marie doesnāt want to go back to the park after a family of strangers asks too many personal questions about her adoption. Her mom introduces her to Dr. Chaitra, a therapist who is a transracial adoptee just like Marie. In therapy, Marie learns that adoptees have the power to handle those pesky questions in very special ways . . . but does she feel ready to return to the park?
Author Bio: Dr. Chaitra is an international and transracial adoptee from India. She traveled to the United States as a tiny baby, escorted in a basket with three other babies, and sheās pretty sure thatās why she likes her space when she sleeps now. When sheās not sleeping, she loves cooking, gardening, reading, hiking, kayaking, organizing office supplies, and eating French fries. She also loves spending time with other adoptees of all ages, including her own child, because she knows about all of the remarkable things that can happen when adoptees connect with each other. Dr. Chaitra wishes that every single adopted person in the world could visit her therapy office and talk with her about what itās like to be an adoptee, but because thatās not possible, she decided to invite everyone into her therapy room by creating the āAdoptees Like Meā series.
